Bittersweet..

Today was teacher's day, so we had a long weekend. I left for Ko Samet with Mike, Vicky, Craig, Michelle, Lindsay, Jordan, and Colleen at about 4:30 on Friday. We were all fairly tired from the track and field afternoon we had for the students. It was probably a little before 11 by the time we arrived and got a room. We decided to all stay in 1 room so it was a little crowded but lots of fun. We spent the evenings listening to music and dancing by the beach and the mornings and afternoons hanging out on the beach reading, playing frisbee and football, etc. We left the island at about 11 this morning and got back at around 5:30. Its kinda sad thinking that in 10 weeks the teachers here will be scattered in various directions. I've made close friends and it will be tough saying goodbye. Who knows when when or if we'll see eachother again. But I'm also ready to move on to be back with family and friends in Alberta. Bittersweet. Here's a song that came to my mind writing this entry.

"Bittersweet Symphony" ~The Verve

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Trying to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
Where all the veins meet yeah

No change, I can't change
I can't change, I can't change
But I'm here in my mind
I am here in my mind
But I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mind
No, no, no, no, no, no, no,no,no,no,no,no...

Well I never pray
But tonight I'm on my knees yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there's nobody singing to me now

No change, I can't change
I can't change, I can't change
But I'm here in my mind
I am here in my mind
And I'm a million different people
From one day to the next
I can't change my mind
No, no, no, no, no, no, no
I can't change
I can't change it

You know I can't change,
I can't change
I can't change, I can't change
But I'm here in my mind
I am here in my mind
And I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mind
No, no, no, no, no

I can't change my mind
no, no, no, no, no,
I can't change
Can't change my body,
no, no, no

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
That you've ever been down
That you've ever been down
