After almost 3 years after applying, I became a Canadian citizen this past Friday, on Canada's 139th birthday. I was told to be there by 10 but the ceremony didn't start til past 11. It was very hot and very sunny and since the ceremony was outside I don't think anyone was feeling very comfortable. Various dignataries had to give their speeches and then they had to call all 139 of us becoming citizens up one at a time to get our citizenship card and shake hands, so it took awhile. I am fortunate enough to be a citizen of both the United States and Canada. I'd just like to say happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans.
